hello all,
i've been working a lot on webcamXP recently to bring you a new beta version with many interesting changes. all the video sources are now working in directshow mode just like a standard webcam / capture card. this means that all the sources can now be streamed in ASF and recorded using any codec that is installed on your computer.
the stream from file is also working this way now and you can use any video file that you can read on your computer to stream it using webcamXP (including sound).
to continue using the screen capture in directshow it's required to download an optional directshow filter, you can find one on the webcamXP download page.
about the ip cameras, i had to write a directshow filter that allows to plug ip camera in any directshow application and to use it just like it was a local usb webcam.
this was a required step to keep webcamXP evolving in the future but as you can imagine there's still a lot of work such as finishing converting the overlay so it works in directshow too and in creating the same kind of filter for mpeg4 cameras.
i have released a first version of the filter 2-3 days ago on www.webcamxp.com and i'm replacing it today with a version using only 5-10% cpu when active and that doesn't require ffdshow to be installed anymore.

updating the beta package to version 3.92.618, this version includes the latest ip camera filter (1.27) and the new Flash client in CS3.

again a new beta package, both (webcamxp + directshow filter) have been updated.
major changes are stream from file playing in loop / displaying elapsed & remaining time for time limited streams / many parts of the filter have been rewritten or optimized / the output frame rate of the filter can be setted (main factor of the cpu usage that can be high on high-speed connection between computer and camera).

updated webcamXP to v3.72
it includes :
- some fixes in asp streaming
- 2 new directshow filters that can be used as source (local file / remote file)
- advanced users management (import/export lists to file or url, daily time limit, expiration date, custom messages and redirection of unauthorized viewers)
beside this i have the new webcamXP.com website which is now online. i'm finishing to prepare the registered users part which will give you access to some additional features.

hello,
i have finally released an official version of webcamXP which supports ASF streaming as input and output sources.
it now accepts to use WM9 profiles (external *.prx) which allows to get a much better quality (it's possible to add your own profiles in the WM9Profiles subdirectory, you can create your own using the tools provided in Windows Media Encoder SDK.
here is webcamXP 3.60.
the beta version which was previousely available had the asf working fine under Vista however it wasn't working as input source under XP.

as promised a few days ago here's finally a brand new webcamXP 2007 3.5 beta version.
It includes massive changes and it's why i'll probably have to release a few beta versions to finalize this. here are the current changes :
- supports ASF audio + video streaming for directX sources
- accepts ASF as input sources
- the directX time/date stamp filter is now integrated and can be enabled for directX sources (also works for recording / ASF broadcasting)
- added template for Creative Live! Wireless
- fully updated french language
please give it a try and give me your thoughs.
