Hello,
as announced earlier and due to the huge amount of spam and attacks on the darkboard. i actually have decided to shut it down.
anyway it was more or less unmonitored and neither me or any of the old admin seemed motivated to maintain and keep it running anymore so now it's down.
something specific to webcamxp might be put in place directly on www.webcamxp.com in the future but actually i'm already too busy with the software itself to be able to look for that....
it's still possible to register but excepted the shoutbox and the possibility to reply to the posts here it's not possible to access the forum anymore.

as the last post is becoming really too long, it's time to start a new one with a new version and also some informations :)
webcamXP 5 is definately going to replace webcamXP 2008, it really seems that it was a smart decision to recode everything from scratch...
also even after the beta period, a free single source version will remain available. it's the rebirth of webcamXP Free for home users which do not need more.
anyway and until september you can keep enjoying the free beta version which is actually being updated and improved on a very regular basis and becoming stronger every day.

back again with some good news, i'm happy to be finally able to provide a version of the IP Camera DS filter (4.0.9.14) which is working with Y!Live, uStream and Stickam !
i have received several requests for that and due to the flash specialities it was not easy to find the problem but it's ok :)
at this time, there are no known "incompatible" applications with the DS filter anymore.
as it's not possible to display the source settings directly from those flash applications, it's required to use webcamXP, wLite or any other application which allows to do so and to save settings in the filter prior to use it in a flash application (1st time only).

after a few days of tests which were really positive (.372 was online and running for 4.5 days without any hitch and no excessive memory / cpu usage) here's another update because there are still many parts missing.
anyway it's going quite fast to re-integrate features as most of them were already existing in webcamXP 2008 even if they were not really done to proper way all i have to do is optimizing on the fly :)

webcamXP 2008 has been upgraded to 4.12.250 in order to remain compatible with the DS filter which now supports both modes (templates / direct url).
As requested, the scheduler and windows media streaming modes are back, the new design has also been implemented and i really like the result... At this time i'm nearly sure that it'll really be the successor of webcamXP and that future versions will be based on it.
The IP Camera filter is also nearly ready for commercialization, i'm receiving several requests however it was not possible before due to some recurring issues which are now nearly totally solved.

as announced last week the first webcamXP lite beta is here :)
i though i won't be able to release it today but i've been able to build version which seems to be working fine with the actually integrated features.
btw keep in mind that it doesn't contain all the features of webcamXP and is mainly focused on resources and performances.
excepted for the directshow filter which is common for webcamXP 2008 and wLite you can install it and keep using webcamXP as well.
It'll be installed in a separated folder, all the settings are also saved in the user's documents folder (in an easily understandable xml format) in order to work even with restricted rights accounts.
well, i won't make you wait any longer...
download wLite 1.2.5.536 and test by yourself :)
potentially webcamXP 2008 beta might be discontinued and this could be the new basis for webcamXP 5 but this will be decided later after a few versions and after your feedback...
if you intende to use both wLite and webcamXP 2008 please install this version : webcamXP 2008 v4.12.275 due to compatibility issues with the IP Camera filter

in one week (friday 25th april), i'll post the first public version of the successor of webcamXP.
after hesitating a long time between redoing everything in .NET or starting a new project in delphi coded cleanéy, i have finally chosen the 2nd possibility due to the lot of time and research spent on webcamXP and the better performances of directshow in delphi than .NET.
in effect, even if webcamXP offers many possibilities and is quite robust it also has several problems and has become too complex and too heavy for most users. i must also admit that the code has suffered a lot in time (it initially was developped in delphi 3 and upgraded to every new version) and became quite messy with everything mixed up and made things such as running natively the software as service nearly impossible.
i also know that many people disagree regarding webcamXP 2008 due to the higher resources requried and the complexity of the interface and settings. for this reason, i decided to start on a new "light" version in which i reimplement all good things in webcamXP because it also contains a lot of useless code for most people.
this new version should have the performances, resources requirement and interface comparable to webcamXP 1.0 and the features that were avaiable or planned in webcamXP 2008 and will easily create new possibilites such as a service version, unlimited number of sources or the possibility of "extensions" for some special features.
here's the first screenshot, to test by yourself you'll have to wait an additional week :)
i won't be able to integrate all features of webcamXP Private and PRO in one time and it's why i will first release this webcamXP lite version but i'm nearly sure that this time most people will approve regarding the performances, memory usages (25%)* and cpu requirements (40-50%)* of it.
currently the following features have been recoded and integrated in the new version : 12 sources support, same sources support (directshow, ip cams, files, asf, ...) than webcamxp 2008, pan & tilt control, motion detector, http broadcast, ftp, http post, password protection, ip filtering. some features such as remote administration, scheduler or overlay (excepted logo + date/time) won't be integrated in this version.
i'm nearly sure that this will also be the new basis for webcamXP 5 (Private / PRO) but this will be decided and confirmed after your feedback :)
the ip camera directshow filter will be updated as well as it's a very important part in this new version because it is the only way to use network cameras. now all the templates are integrated into the filter which means that even in other applications you can easily setup your ip camera.
i'm developing everything under Vista-64 and even if no 64-bit version of my software is planned yet it'll ensure the best compatibility (even with standard rights) and performances under Vista.
