once again i'm about to leave to complete my army obligations tomorrow, there are chances that i come back quite quickly however until i've been there i cannot be sure...
anyway i've been able to do much more than i though about the new mjpeg feature in webcamXP and i'm amazed on how great it works actually. you should have enough things to test and to play with while i'm away and i'm nearly sure you haven't got any 2.xx.xx version that was working that good. i think i have fixed all the remaining threads synchronization and memory usages problems that were affecting any prior version, i'm verifying and handling the errors everywhere and i've rewritten many parts that had to. btw i've rarely done that many tests myself (i usually let the users test ^^) and there were very intensive with heavy usage on 3 systems, to me everything seems great so far.

after spending a few nights on it, i'm finally able to provide you the first testable webcamXP version able to do real streaming in motion jpeg (additionally to all existing clients mode which still work exactly the same way). it shouldn't change much over lan however over internet and as both sides are buffered and as it doesn't wait a frame to be completed to request a new one this should improve the frame rate.
there are other new possibilities that i'll code later like the fact of rolling back a few seconds before recording movies (due to the buffer) and the fact of recording movies with overlay (as i create the mjpeg movie file manually myself i can put the overlayed images into it). i also expect once to be able to integrate the audio stream into the mjpeg stream in order to finally have synchronized sound but this will also come later.
for now the other important changes are :
- possibility to handle ip sources through the remote admin
- reseting http post thread on timeout
- several improvements in real-time users managment
- fixes authentication on some ip cams

- the new applet avoids 90% of write errors (even if it worked with them), software nearly didn't change...
i need feedback about the mjpeg applet and this is what i would like you to test. if you can please test it as much as you can and over internet and let me know what your thoughs are. you can also post the urls to your webcams using this version or send me a pm with to help me to improve this...
get webcamXP 2.16.547x mJPEG edition now !
updated to v2.16.547x on 2005.07.18 which fixes the first problems that have been reported around the new mjpeg mode... it really seems to use the available bandwidth much better than other modes however it also uses much more cpu on both sides and a fast computer will help to get results.
the versions .532 / .535 are subject to a leak in mjpeg stream (on webcamxp side) which might cause heavy memory usage and freeze after streaming mjpeg for hours... the latest build is now fixing this !

i'm currently playing with something i've dreamed about for ages :)
a webcamXP version able to do real streaming in mjpeg and to record movies that contains the overlays (in mjpeg too btw ^^), it's still heavily experimental however i'll shortly need an experimented java developper able to code a java client that supports this (i'll pay up to 2000$ for a client able to read both : movies stored on same server than the applet & real-time streaming from the internal server all in mjpeg)
in case you know the one that could do that please let me know asap, in the meantime i'll return playing with my new feature...

just updated the sets page with some new stuff for you ears. i have added 2 mixes from menaz that you maybe already downloaded from the forum a few weeks ago and i've also added 2 new minimal sets i made which are part of a shortly completed minimal trilogy (darkness never sleeps).
also added one new remix i made from a tune i really love (hugg & pepp - kanelbulle), the original is a bit too chilly for most of my sets and i haven't found any other remix so even if this tune is approx. 1 year old now i've decided to make my own :)
get them here and enjoy them :)
